Be True
It was hard to Michael to write that letter, a letter about him coming out from his shell. At first he is not comfortable on expressing his feelings but at least he already was true to himself. When he revealed that he was gay, the heavy feeling was suddenly lifted. He spoke about the place he's been and how they accept people like him.
Even though I am not a part of the community, I feel proud on what Michael did. It is a very hard decision to think that maybe his mother might not accept who he is. But I salute to him, he is brave, he was true and accepted who he really is even though not having the assurance of being accepted since he has went through lot of rejection.
He never gave up on what ge truly felt even though people were telling him that all he felt was wrong. The social reality that's depicted in the letter is the LQBTQ community, the community where Michael belong to. This community is often bullied, criticized for what they are because they think this community doesn't belong in the society.
All I know is that the only think I can ever do is to support their community, the community Michael belong to. They deserve respect, not all might like them but they must be respected for who they are because at least they are being real and true to themselves, they did not pretend to be something else just to be loved by everyone else. And that is the greatest thing, to be true, and I will help them and encourage those who haven't come out yet, to come and it other's won't, then I will.
